What is Track Light?

The light fixtures are installed on tracks. As a result, you can move each fixture anywhere on the track, and it still works, because the tracks are also conductors. This gives you many choices. These lighting systems are commonly attached to ceilings but you can also suspend them from ceilings, or install them on walls.


Track lights are convenient to use. They take up little space in the room, and you won’t have to use as many lamps or other sources of light. They are safer because there are no power cords to get in the way. You can install track lights in a number of configurations. In fact, track lighting fixtures can give you light anywhere in the room.

Installation is not difficult. In fact, most people with minimal knowledge of electricity can install these systems. It’s much easier to install a track system than to place lights all over the ceiling. Because tracks mount flush to the surface, there is no cutting involved.


Suppose you have more than one light on a track. Your lights cannot operate independently of each other. In other words, you can only turn them all on or off. Track lighting fixtures are best for highlighting and lighting specific areas. They don’t work well for overall room lighting.

LED or Incandescent

You can choose either standard or LED track lights for your home. LED is more expensive, but they can save you a lot of money on electricity. Also, LED bulbs last considerably longer than standard incandescent bulbs.
